Course Designer, Davis Love, III

Birthdate: April 13, 1964
Birthplace: Charlotte, NC
College: University of North Carolina
Turned Pro: 1985

Biography
Davis Love III was introduced to the game by his father, Davis Love, Jr. who was a former pro and nationally recognized golf instructor. He was born shortly after his father contended at 1964 Masters.

For two decades, Davis has been a dominant figure in professional golf. He's one of the most recognizable and popular players in the world. Yet, golf is Davis' livelihood, not his whole life. Family man. Spiritual man. Outdoorsman. Businessman. Golf course designer. Corporate spokesman. Each fits Davis, a man who has enjoyed tremendous success away from the game. Davis has won 19 events on the PGA Tour, including one Major Championship, the 1997 PGA Championship. He also won the prestigious Players Championship in 1992 and 2003.

Design Philosophy
Davis Love III is a lifelong student of golf, and as such has experienced every kind of golf course architecture. He co-founded Love Enterprises with his brother, and has come to love the design process of walking the land before designing each course.

Davis feels modern course should be designed in the traditional manner, with emphasis on strategy and playability, and where creativity is reflected in the subtleties of design details.
